Badflower

Skyla Credit Union Amphitheater - Charlotte NC

Opening a show while the sun’s still out isn’t easy — but Badflower took the challenge and ran with it.

As the first act on the bill before 311, the LA alt-rock outfit wasted no time waking up the crowd at Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre. With the North Carolina heat still hanging thick in the air, frontman Josh Katz stepped out in broad daylight and delivered a set that was short, sharp, and surprisingly intimate — even on a big stage.

Their performance leaned into the emotional weight they’re known for, with tracks like “No Place Like Home” and “Paws” hitting just as hard as they would under night lights. Katz vocals were raw and full of edge and the band kept things tight and dialed in despite the early slot.

The crowd, many still filtering in, took notice. Heads turned. Fans stood up. Phones came out. For a band that thrives on vulnerability, Badflower managed to make a connection even without the full production or the cover of darkness. And honestly? That made it hit even harder.

With limited time, they didn’t overplay or overtalk. Just song after song, sharp and unfiltered — a reminder that sometimes, all you need is the right band at the right moment.
