Jordana live in indianapolis

Jordana jumped back into her Jordanaland Tour at The Hi-Fi this weekend to a full house after a brief stretch of canceled shows on March 16th in Indianapolis.

Jordana brought Kelcey Ayer along for the first half of the tour, delivering an incredible start to the night. Opening with his “Dad rock“ sound, Ayer set the tone effortlessly. The song that seemed to strike the crowd the hardest was his song “No Sleep” off of one of his many new EP’s released last year.

Ayer took a few moments between songs to explain his inspiration for his new solo music was from becoming a father. Ayer said he wrote these EP’s as if they were “stories” for his son. Before wrapping up his set with “Ghosts of Neighborhood Dogs” and “Before You” Ayer asks, “are you ready for the reason you came?” While the cheers were endless for Jordana, no one in the crowd left without thinking about Ayer’s “No Sleep.”

Jordana took the stage with the crowd eagerly awaiting. Fans peaking around corners of the stage holding posters and pens waiting to see her. The room filled with applause as she began her set with “Like A Dog,” “Heart You Hold,” and “We Get By.” Playing several different instruments such as a tambourine, violin, and a guitar, she did not disappoint the crowd in Indy.

During instrument swaps and tuning breaks, Jordana would crack jokes with the audience, adding a personal element to the set. When the room wasn’t filled with laughter from her “firing” her band mates, the room seemed to sway back and forth. Couples, friends, and families all dancing to the beat, swapping glances of happiness and love. Jordana then goes on to play a few more hits like “Raver Girl,” and “Summers Over” before sharing more about how she’s been sick and had to cancel a few shows.

Jordana goes on to say “I wouldn't wish being that sick on my worst enemy… Actually you know what I might, but I’m not my own worst enemy.” The band members then glanced at each other and spontaneously started playing “My Own Worst Enemy” by Lit. It was such a fun and carefree moment that lit up the room and made everyone dance and sing to the music.

From her whimsical stage performance to her diverse musical talent, Jordana really brought the room together. Even if indie bedroom pop and effortless comedic timing isn't your thing, Jordana creates an atmosphere that seems to unite everyone, wrapping them in a sense of euphoria elevated by laughter.
