Live in Washington DC

Claire Chicha, aka Spill Tab, played Pearl Street Warehouse in Washington, DC on Monday September 29 as a part of her Angie tour, supporting her debut studio album Angie, and gave the crowd exactly what they came for. The night felt part house party and part cathartic release, carried by Chicha’s easy switch between French and English, a duality that has become her trademark. Known for eclectic, genre-blurring tracks, she takes it further by letting her songs breathe with raw energy and a little cheeky humor.

The set opened with “Grade A,” “Window,” and “Calvaire,” instantly pulling everyone in. From the start, she blended languages in a natural way. Fan favorites like “Velcro” and “Uneasy” kept the energy up, while slower tracks like “Adore Me” and “Cotton Candy” created quiet, intimate moments where her French lyrics, in particular, made the songs feel hushed and confessional. The biggest surprise was her and her band’s cover of Alex G’s “Runner” which she called one of her favorites before singing it, and the crowd responded as if they were in on a personal secret.

Before the final section, Spill Tab encouraged the audience to dance as much as they wanted. She followed it up with a quick joke about throwing her back out, which got a laugh and set the stage for an all-out finish. “De Guerre,” “PISTALWHIP,” and “CRÈME BRÛLÉE!” closed the show with explosive energy, the mix of English and French titles mirroring the balance she had been playing with all night.

What made the set especially memorable was how much of her identity carried through the performance. Switching between French and English lyrics live, Spill Tab leaned into the same effortless duality that defines her recordings. At one moment she was vulnerable and tender, and in the next she was playful and bold, a balance that has become her signature. Even without elaborate production, her presence filled the room, carried by her voice, her personality, and the chemistry of the band around her. Spill Tab has the kind of energy that makes you feel like you are catching her right before she breaks into a much bigger scene. After a set this fun, it is easy to believe that bigger stages are right around the corner.
