Back From The Dead, Back Where They Belong: The Cab's Resurrection Is Complete at Starland Ballroom

There are regular reunion tours, and then there are one of THOSE nights. Where Alexander DeLeon gives you a reason. On Friday, June 26th, The Cab brought their Back From The Dead Tour to Starland Ballroom, turning the Sayreville venue into a celebration of both nostalgia and a new chapter.

Originally formed in Las Vegas, Nevada, The Cab has remained a staple of the pop-rock scene thanks to their infectious hooks and energetic live performances. Frontman Alex DeLeon, joined by Alex Marshall on guitar and keys, Dave Briggs on drums, Chance Chantry on guitar, and Joey Thunder on bass, proved exactly why fans have waited so long to see this lineup together again.

From the moment the lights went down, anticipation filled Starland Ballroom. Rainbow lighting flooded the stage throughout the night, giving each song its own personality while a large ChasingCrowns tapestry stretched across the backline. Alex DeLeon stepped onstage in a white T-shirt, black leather pants, and a hat, keeping his look simple against the colorful production. Beside him, Joey Thunder's bright blue hair practically glowed under the lights, adding another eye-catching element to the band's already vibrant stage presence.

The setlist blended new material with longtime favorites, opening with "Ultima Ratio Regum" before moving into "Locked and Loaded," "Temporary Bliss," and the tour's title track, "Back From the Dead."

The band's latest album, Chasing Crowns, released on April 24, 2026, marked their long-awaited return with eighteen new tracks, several of which found their way into Friday night's set. The new songs fit seamlessly alongside the classics, with fans already singing every word as if they'd been part of the catalog for years.

One of the night's standout moments came during “La La,” when DeLeon instructed the audience to split down the middle before guiding the “like a symphony” chant. The crowd eagerly followed, creating one of the most energetic moments of the evening as both sides exploded alternatingly. Throughout the show, DeLeon frequently turned the microphone toward the audience, letting fans take over entire choruses while their voices echoed through the packed, 2,000 person ballroom.

A medley of "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)," "...Baby One More Time," and "It's Gonna Be Me" broke up the original songs in the setlist, adding a fun surprise that perfectly matched the carefree, early 2000s atmosphere. Fan favorites including "Stand Up," "These Are the Lies," "Take My Hand," and "Bounce" kept the energy high, while "Vegas Skies" blended into "I'll Run" for one of the evening's more emotional moments.

Looking around the room, it was impossible to miss the range of fans in attendance. Kids experiencing their first concert stood alongside adults who had grown up with The Cab's music, creating an atmosphere that was welcoming and fun for everyone.

As the night came to a close, the encore featured a mashup of Justin Bieber’s "YUKON” and the band's 2008 release, “One of THOSE Nights," followed by a powerful rendition of "Endlessly" before ending exactly where longtime fans hoped it would—with "Angel with a Shotgun."

Even after the music stopped, the band still found ways to make the night memorable, tossing signed setlists into the crowd as fans reached toward the stage one last time.
