Lynsea
Live in Charlotte
Charlotte’s own Lynsea took the stage on 8/23 at Petra’s with the kind of presence that makes you realize she’s not just another name in the local scene, she’s a rising star carving out her own lane.
From the very first note, her set balanced vulnerability with undeniable confidence. Songs like “Hormones” carried even more weight live, her voice cutting through the room with an honesty that felt both personal and universal. While streaming her music reveals her pop instincts, hearing it in person highlights the grit, soul, and depth behind her lyrics.
Visually, Lynsea commanded the space in a way that made photographing her a joy. Every glance toward the crowd and every movement on stage, carried intention.
One of the highlights of the night came with “Last Call”. The crowd lit up when she introduced it, many singing along like it had already become a classic. Her ability to bridge the polished side of pop with intimate, diary-like songwriting was on full display. Beyond her established singles, Lynsea gave the crowd an intimate look at what’s next by performing two unreleased songs — “Felt Like Love” and “Subtle.”
As a photographer, I was struck by how naturally she interacts with her audience. It’s rare to find an artist who feels just as comfortable letting their guard down as she does taking command of a stage. The photos I captured reflect that duality, both the polished artist and the relatable person behind the music.
Lynsea’s Charlotte performance wasn’t just another show, it felt like a glimpse into the early chapters of an artist destined for bigger stages. If her show is any indication, she’s not just representing Charlotte’s music scene, she’s redefining it
